A/C System Troubleshooting (Pg 2)

HFC 134a A/C TROUBLE SHOOTING I (REFRIGERATION CIRCUIT ... For Insufficient Cooling . Unusual Pressure)

A/C Bad Phenomenon A/C Pressure Condition Other Bad Phenomenon Result of Diagnosis (Primary Cause) Causes Counter Measures
Insufficient cooling, or no cooling High pressure side is low, low pressure side is low At first, bubbles appear after that bubbles clear in the sight glass No air flow, or small air flow volume Air flow leaks from between evaporator unit and heater unit Close connection by mending tape or sealing material
Malfunction of blower motor, or defective electric circuit for motor Check electric circuit, or replace blower motor
No cooling High pressure side is low, low pressure side is high Low pressure side and high pressure side equalize immediately after turning off the compressor --------------- Malfunction of compressor Repair, or replace of compressor
Insufficient cooling Low pressure side is high Low pressure piping is cooled abnormally and frosted (returning liquid refrigerant) --------------- Loose contact of senser bulb to evaporator outlet pipe, or insufficient insulation of sensor bulb Improve to contact and heat insulation between sensor bulb and pipe, or replace sensor clip
--------------- Maladjusted expansion valve (too much opened) Readjust TXV, or replace TVX
Insufficient cooling (Initially cooling performance is normal but it becomes insufficient cooling gradually) --------------- Louver outlet air flow decreases gradually, when blower is 'ON' and A/C is 'OFF', much drain water comes out Evaporator coil icing, thermistor is not cooled, or compressor clutch can be cut off when louver outlet air temp. is low enough Thermostat's 'cut off' setting point is lower than original spec. Check thermistor, thermo amplifier and mechanical thermostat
--------------- Sensor bulb of thermister or capillary is installed improper place Check the place of thermo-sensor bulb or capillary, if it is not proper, should be move to proper place
--------------- Evaporator coil icing, thermistor is colded, or compressor clutch never cut off when louver outlet air temp. is low enough Thermistor or thermo-control amplifier is malfunctioned (do not cut off) Check thermo system wiring, or replace defective parts
--------------- From the beginning, air flow volume is small Evaporator coil icing Air leakage of evaporator case Close evaporator case by packing or mending tape
--------------- Air leakage from between heater unit and evaporator unit Repair connection by packing
